You can apply online to update the mobile number in your Aadhaar card by following some steps on the UIDAI website. However, for biometric authentication, you must go to the Aadhaar Seva Kendra, but the online process will make your work much more manageable. Let’s easily know this…

1. First of all, go to the UIDAI website uidai.gov.in.

2. Go to the ‘My Aadhaar’ section and click ‘Update Aadhaar’.

3. Enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code.

4. Click on ‘Generate OTP’! The OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.

Log in by entering the OTP.

5. Click on ‘Update Aadhaar Online’.

6. Now you will see several options, select ‘Mobile Number’ from them.

7. Enter your new mobile number and click on ‘Proceed’.

8. Now you have to make the payment. There may be some charges for updating the mobile number online.

9. You will get an appointment ID once the payment is successful.

10. Book an appointment at the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra using this appointment ID.

11. Visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra on the scheduled date and time and get biometric authentication done.

Why Is It Important To Keep The Mobile Number Updated In Aadhaar?

1. In many online services and government schemes, Aadhaar verification is done through OTP, which is sent to your registered mobile number. If your number is not updated, you cannot use this facility.

2. Digital payment services like UPI (Unified Payment Interface) also require a registered mobile number. The OTP received during payment will only be sent to your updated number.
