Litton Das Captain Till 2026 T20 World Cup

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took an important decision on May 04 and appointed Litton Das as the new captain of Bangladesh’s T20 team. This decision will be effective till the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup. Litton Das, who has captained the team before, will now take charge of the Bangladesh team. He will replace Najmul Hossain Shanto, who resigned from the Bangladesh cricket team’s captaincy across all formats. Shanto took this step due to his busy cricket schedule. Along with this, Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been appointed as the vice-captain.

Litton Das’s Journey To Becoming Captain

Litton Das’s path to becoming captain started with the three-match T20 series against the West Indies in December last year. He led the team then, and Bangladesh performed well under his captaincy. After this, the board decided to make him the permanent captain of the T20 team. Now, Litton Das will captain the Bangladesh team in the upcoming T20 series against the UAE and Pakistan.

Statement of BCB President

After appointing Litton Das as captain, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Abedin made an important statement. He said Litton Das has been chosen as the captain for a long time and will lead the team until next year’s T20 World Cup. Nazmul Abedin further said that the Bangladesh cricket team currently does not have many experienced players, but Litton has full potential for captaincy. He believes that Litton Das will become the most important player on the Bangladesh cricket team in the future.

International Cricket Career Of Litton Das

Litton Das’s international career has been quite brilliant. He has scored 2,788 runs in 48 Test matches at an average of 34.00, including 4 centuries and 17 half-centuries. In ODI cricket, he has scored 2,569 runs in 94 matches at an average of 30.22, with 5 centuries and 12 half-centuries. In T20 cricket, Litton Das has scored 2,476 runs in 95 matches at an average of 22.44. He has 11 half-centuries to his name in this format. So far, Litton has captained Bangladesh in one Test, seven ODIS and four T20IS.
