Rekha Gupta’s government in Delhi will give a big gift that will ease transportation. Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh announced Friday that 500 new electric buses will hit the capital roads in the next two months.
After the review meeting on the inclusion of electric buses in the public transport fleet, the Transport Minister said that while 500 buses will hit the roads in the next two months, the government intends to put 1000 buses on the streets by the end of this year.
What Did The Transport Minister Say?
Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said, “We are moving towards rapidly changing the public transport system. 500 new electric buses will be launched on the roads of Delhi in the next two months, and 1,000 more buses will be on the roads by the end of the year, ensuring cleaner, more convenient transport options for all.”
He further said that new electric buses should start running soon, so people can benefit immediately. By including these buses in public transport, we are taking decisive steps towards making Delhi the country’s EV capital.
Recently, Devi electric buses have been included in the public transport fleet in Delhi. The special thing is that they run on short routes (about 12 km). Especially, it is being run more where there is difficulty in operating big buses.
Who Attended The Meeting
Senior officials of the Transport Department and representatives of the companies supplying the bus (consignor) also attended the meeting. Representatives of other major bus companies, including PMI Electro Mobility, Switch Mobility, JBM, and officials of the Transport Department, were present.
Pankaj Singh appealed to the bus consignor to expedite the supply of electric buses and speed up the development of EV charging infrastructure in all major depots so that these buses can be operated without hindrance.
An Important Step In Making Delhi The EV Capital
Transport department officials also said that various depots’ construction work and electrification are in their final stage. The minister said introducing new electric buses is important to making Delhi the country’s EV capital. He directed the concerned agencies to expedite the process so people can get clean and efficient transport facilities.
